Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Clove aqueous extract is a research-stage botanical extract derived from the dried buds of *Syzygium aromaticum* (clove). It is a natural product containing eugenol as its primary active constituent. Preclinical studies have demonstrated its broad-spectrum antibacterial activity and anticancer properties. In breast, pancreatic, colon, and ovarian cancer models, it has been shown to inhibit cell proliferation, induce cell cycle arrest (specifically S-phase arrest), downregulate cyclin-dependent kinases (CDK2, CDK4) and cyclins (cyclin A, cyclin D2), inhibit matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2), and induce autophagy via the AMPK/ULK pathway.
