Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Clove ethanolic extract is a botanical extract derived from the dried flower buds of *Syzygium aromaticum*. It is characterized by a high concentration of bioactive phenolic compounds, primarily eugenol, along with kaempferol, gallic acid, and catechin. The extract exhibits potent broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against various Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including common urinary tract infection (UTI) pathogens, as well as antifungal properties against food-contaminating *Aspergillus* species. Its biological efficacy is attributed to the synergistic effects of its constituent phytochemicals, which also provide significant antioxidant capacity. Research indicates it may outperform commercial clove essential oil in antimicrobial potency due to its diverse chemical profile.
