cloxazolam

Cloxazolam is a long-acting benzodiazepine derivative with anxiolytic (anti-anxiety), sedative/hypnotic, muscle relaxant, and antiepileptic properties. It acts as a prodrug and is metabolized in the liver to its active metabolite delorazepam (chlordesmethyldiazepam). The primary mechanism of action involves positive allosteric modulation of the GABA(A) receptor at the benzodiazepine binding site, enhancing the inhibitory effect of GABA in the central nervous system. Cloxazolam is mainly indicated for short-term treatment of anxiety disorders but has also been used for sleep disorders (such as insomnia), premedication before surgery to reduce anxiety and tension, and as adjunctive therapy in epilepsy. It has been marketed primarily in Argentina, Australia, Portugal, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Germany, Taiwan and Japan[1][6][7].
