Overview

CLS-002 was a preclinical-stage subcutaneous (SQ) formulation of a marketed intravenous immuno-oncology monoclonal antibody, developed by Comera Life Sciences. The candidate utilized the proprietary SQore™ platform, which employs caffeine-based excipients to reduce the viscosity of high-concentration protein solutions, allowing for subcutaneous injection of biologics that previously required lengthy intravenous infusions. Based on company publications and research data, the active ingredient for CLS-002 was likely ipilimumab (Yervoy), a checkpoint inhibitor targeting CTLA-4. The program was intended to improve patient convenience and enable self-administration. However, in February 2024, Comera Life Sciences announced a complete workforce termination and the commencement of a corporate wind-down due to insolvency, effectively terminating the development of CLS-002.
