Overview

CLS001 is an induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived corneal endothelial cell therapy developed by Cellusion for the treatment of bullous keratopathy. Bullous keratopathy is a condition characterized by corneal edema and vision loss due to the dysfunction or depletion of corneal endothelial cells. CLS001 aims to address the global shortage of donor corneas by providing a mass-produced, standardized alternative to traditional corneal transplantation. The therapy involves the injection of iPSC-derived corneal endothelial substitute cells into the anterior chamber of the eye. It has demonstrated safety and efficacy in first-in-human studies and is advancing into Phase 1/2 clinical trials in Japan and globally.
