Overview

CLS2702C is an autologous oral mucosal epithelial cell sheet developed by CellSeed for the prevention of esophageal stenosis following endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) in patients with superficial esophageal cancer. The therapy utilizes CellSeed's proprietary cell sheet engineering technology, where a patient's own oral mucosal cells are cultured on temperature-responsive polymer-coated dishes. This allows the cells to be harvested as an intact, functional sheet that retains its extracellular matrix and adhesive proteins. When transplanted onto the esophageal ulceration site post-ESD, the sheet promotes rapid re-epithelialization and suppresses the fibrotic response, thereby reducing the risk of stricture formation. It is currently in Phase 3 clinical development in Japan.
