CLT-008 (also known as Myelo-HSC) is an off-the-shelf, cryopreserved cellular therapy consisting of human myeloid progenitor cells (MPCs) derived from hematopoietic stem cells. Developed by Cellerant Therapeutics, it was designed to provide rapid, transient protection against infection in patients with severe neutropenia, such as those undergoing induction chemotherapy for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) or individuals exposed to high-dose radiation (Acute Radiation Syndrome). The therapy works by delivering ex vivo expanded progenitor cells that rapidly differentiate into mature, functional neutrophils, bridging the period of critical immune deficiency while the patient's endogenous bone marrow recovers. Unlike traditional hematopoietic stem cell transplants, CLT-008 cells are not intended for long-term engraftment. Although it reached Phase 2 clinical trials and received significant funding from BARDA as a medical countermeasure, development was halted following the cessation of Cellerant's operations.
