Clustoid

Clustoid is a subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT) developed by Inmunotek S.L. that utilizes allergen extracts polymerized with glutaraldehyde to form allergoids. This specific formulation, currently in Phase 3 clinical evaluation, combines polymerized grass pollen and cupressaceae (cypress) pollen extracts adsorbed onto aluminum hydroxide. The polymerization process is designed to reduce the allergen's IgE-binding capacity, thereby improving the safety profile by minimizing the risk of systemic allergic reactions while preserving the T-cell epitopes necessary for inducing immunological tolerance. Clustoid is primarily indicated for the treatment of allergic rhinitis, allergic rhinoconjunctivitis, and mild to moderate allergic asthma. It works by shifting the immune response from a Th2-mediated allergic profile toward a Th1/Treg-mediated regulatory profile and inducing the production of allergen-specific IgG4 blocking antibodies.
