Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**CLX-103** is an orally administered, investigational small-molecule prodrug molecular conjugate developed for mild to moderate ulcerative colitis. Generated using Cellix Bio's Synergix platform, it covalently links mesalamine with eicosapentaenoic acid and caprylic acid to enable intestinal enzyme-mediated hydrolysis and preferential lower-gastrointestinal delivery of mesalamine. Preclinical studies reported prolonged mesalamine exposure in ileal and colonic tissue, lower systemic exposure, and improved activity relative to sulfasalazine in an acute dextran sodium sulfate mouse colitis model. Cellix Bio completed an FDA Pre-IND meeting for the program in 2018.
