CLXR-002 is an investigational cell therapy being developed by Cardiogeni for the treatment of early-stage heart failure. The therapy consists of induced Myogenic Progenitor (iMP) cells that are delivered to the heart using a specialized patch. This approach is designed to provide a localized and sustained presence of regenerative cells on the epicardial surface, aiming to repair damaged myocardium and prevent the progression of heart failure. Unlike CLXR-001, which is intended for late-stage heart failure via direct injection, CLXR-002 focuses on earlier intervention using a patch-based delivery system to enhance cell retention and integration. The iMP cells are created through a proprietary process that directly converts a patient's own fibroblasts into heart muscle progenitor cells, bypassing the need for an intermediate pluripotent state.
