Overview

ClyO is an engineered bacteriophage-derived lysin designed to rapidly lyse Staphylococcus aureus, including multi-drug-resistant strains, by enzymatically cleaving essential bonds in the staphylococcal peptidoglycan cell wall. It is being developed for difficult-to-treat infections such as prosthetic joint infections and has been administered under an FDA compassionate use IND, with initial dosing reported without observed adverse events. Precisio Biotix Therapeutics reports a platform for engineering optimized lysins for respiratory, skin, vaginal, and prosthetic joint infections.
