Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CMAB806 is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody that targets interleukin-6 (IL-6). By binding directly to IL-6, it prevents the cytokine from interacting with its receptors (both soluble and membrane-bound), thereby inhibiting the downstream signaling pathways that lead to systemic inflammation. It was primarily developed to manage cytokine release syndrome (CRS), a severe immune overreaction often seen in patients with severe COVID-19 or following certain immunotherapies. The drug was investigated by researchers at Central South Hospital of Wuhan University during the COVID-1}
