Overview

CMB-B01 is a small molecule drug candidate developed by Chung Mei Biopharma for the treatment of advanced melanoma. The drug was originally derived from cancer research conducted at Academia Sinica, with its manufacturing and quality control processes developed by the Development Center for Biotechnology. CMB-B01 acts as an anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor agent by inhibiting the COX-2 pathway. This inhibition leads to a reduction in prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) levels, decreased activity of the NF-κB p65 subunit, and lower production of nitric oxide (NO). The US FDA cleared the Investigational New Drug (IND) application (IND 133599) for CMB-B01 in March 2017, and the company has since been preparing for clinical trials in Taiwan.
