Overview

CMC2.24 is a novel chemically modified curcumin derivative designed as a pleiotropic inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), particularly MMP-9, with enhanced host modulatory and antioxidant properties compared to native curcumin. It acts by reducing the activation of pro-enzyme forms of MMP-9, thereby decreasing tissue-destructive, collagenolytic, and inflammatory processes in diseases such as periodontitis, diabetes-induced osteoporosis, and osteoarthritis. CMC2.24 also promotes resolution of inflammation by increasing pro-resolving mediators such as resolvin RvD1 and by modulating macrophage phenotypes towards an anti-inflammatory, tissue-protective state. It demonstrates significant in vivo and in vitro efficacy for reducing disease-specific biomarkers, protecting connective tissue, and improving bone and cartilage outcomes in animal models of diabetes, periodontitis, and osteoarthritis[1][3][5][7].
