CMCY2304 is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody Fab fragment that targets the platelet glycoprotein IIb/IIIa (GP IIb/IIIa) receptor, also known as integrin alpha-IIb/beta-3. Developed by Huadong Medicine (Hangzhou Zhongmei Huadong Pharmaceutical), it functions as a potent antiplatelet agent by competitively inhibiting the binding of fibrinogen and von Willebrand factor to activated platelets, thereby blocking the final common pathway of platelet aggregation. This mechanism is primarily utilized to prevent thrombotic complications in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) or those undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Additionally, CMCY2304 is being investigated for its potential in treating ischemic cerebrovascular diseases, such as acute ischemic stroke, and venous thrombosis. As a humanized Fab fragment, it is designed to offer improved safety and reduced immunogenicity compared to first-generation chimeric GP IIb/IIIa inhibitors like abciximab.
