Overview

CMI X-11S is a small molecule drug that functions as a pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase (PDHK) inhibitor. It was initially developed by Merck Serono SA and later involved organizations such as CardioMetabolics Inc. and The Valens Co. The drug's primary mechanism of action is the inhibition of PDHK, which plays a role in regulating glucose metabolism by controlling the activity of the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex. CMI X-11S was investigated for cardiovascular diseases, particularly heart diseases and reperfusion injury, with its highest clinical development reaching Phase 2 trials in higher-risk geriatric patients undergoing open-heart surgical procedures. Development has since been discontinued[1].
