Overview

CML-VAX B2 is an experimental therapeutic peptide vaccine developed for the treatment of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML). It is specifically designed for patients whose leukemic cells harbor the **b2a2** (e1a2-like) breakpoint of the **BCR-ABL** fusion protein. The vaccine consists of a mixture of synthetic peptides that mimic the unique amino acid sequences created at the junction of the BCR and ABL proteins. By presenting these neoantigens to the immune system, the vaccine aims to elicit a specific T-cell-mediated immune response, involving both CD4+ helper T cells and CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes, to recognize and eliminate residual leukemic cells. CML-VAX B2 was primarily investigated as a method to achieve molecular remission in patients who had already responded to standard therapies but still harbored minimal residual disease.
