Overview

CMLVAXb2a2-25 is an investigational peptide vaccine derived from the p210 BCR-ABL fusion protein's b2a2 breakpoint region, specifically designed for patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). The vaccine consists of a 25-amino acid peptide (TVHSIPLTINKEEALQRPVASDFEP) that serves as a tumor-specific neoantigen. Its primary mechanism of action is to stimulate a T-cell-mediated immune response against residual CML cells that harbor the b2a2 transcript. It is intended for use in patients who have achieved a complete cytogenetic response (CCyR) but still exhibit persistent molecular residual disease during long-term treatment with tyrosine kinase inhibitors like imatinib. The vaccine was developed and investigated in Phase I-II clinical trials by the University of Leipzig.
