CMRF-56BDC-02 is an autologous blood dendritic cell (BDC) vaccine developed by the Mater Medical Research Institute for the treatment of metastatic castration-resistant (androgen-independent/hormone-refractory) prostate cancer. It is an autologous cellular immunotherapy that utilizes the chimeric monoclonal antibody hCMRF-56 to isolate primary blood dendritic cells from a patient's own blood. These dendritic cells are then loaded with tumor-associated antigen (specifically, in vitro transcribed mRNA encoding prostate cancer antigens) and administered back to the patient to induce antigen-specific cytotoxic T-lymphocyte (CTL) responses against prostate cancer cells. The vaccine was evaluated in a Phase 1 open-label, dose-finding clinical trial (ACTRN12607000451404) assessing its safety, tolerability, and preliminary immunologic and clinical activity.
