CMTX-301 is a synthetic peptide vaccine developed by Clarametyx Biosciences as a novel, pathogen-agnostic anti-biofilm vaccine candidate. It employs Clarametyx’s proprietary anti-DNABII technology to target and disrupt the critical structural lattice of bacterial biofilms, thereby preventing their formation and maturation. By dismantling these biofilms, which shield bacteria from immune clearance and antibiotics, CMTX-301 enables the body’s natural immune response to more effectively clear bacterial pathogens without relying on antibiotics. The primary targeted indication is otitis media (middle ear infection), but its broad-spectrum mechanism may have utility in preventing or reducing other persistent biofilm-associated infections across various organ systems. The vaccine is currently in preclinical development with support from CARB-X for advancement toward IND-enabling studies and potential Phase 1 clinical evaluation[1][2][3][4][7].
