CMTx R2

CMTx R2 is a host-directed protein inhibitor developed by CMTx Biotech for the treatment of infectious diseases. It functions as an anti-toxin by targeting and neutralizing streptococcal superantigen toxins (STS). These toxins, produced by pathogens such as *Streptococcus pyogenes*, are potent exotoxins capable of inducing massive, non-specific activation of T-cells and a subsequent life-threatening cytokine storm. This hyper-activation can lead to severe conditions such as toxic shock syndrome and systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS). CMTx R2 acts by preventing the interaction between these superantigens and the host's immune system, thereby mitigating the pathological over-activation of the immune response.
