Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A CMV peptide vaccine is a vaccine platform designed to elicit protective immune responses against cytomegalovirus (CMV) by delivering specific immunogenic peptide epitopes. These vaccines typically target key CMV antigens, such as the envelope glycoprotein B (gB) or the tegument protein pp65 (UL83), to stimulate both CD4+ and CD8+ T-cell memory responses as well as humoral (antibody) responses. CMV peptide vaccines are being developed for various indications, including the prevention of congenital CMV infection, the control of CMV reactivation in immunocompromised individuals (such as hematopoietic stem cell or solid organ transplant recipients), and as therapeutic vaccines targeting CMV antigens expressed in certain cancers like glioblastoma.
