The CMV pp65 dendritic cell vaccine is an investigational immunotherapy designed to stimulate the immune system against cytomegalovirus (CMV) antigens present in certain tumors. The therapy involves isolating a patient’s own (autologous) dendritic cells and loading them with the mRNA or peptides encoding the immunodominant CMV protein pp65. These antigen-loaded cells are then administered back to the patient to induce a targeted cytotoxic T-cell response against tumor cells expressing the viral antigen. This approach has been primarily studied in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), where evidence suggests that vaccination can enhance anti-tumor immunity and may improve survival outcomes[5][6][7].
