Overview

CMV-VST (University of Calgary) is an investigational cell therapy comprising donor-derived T lymphocytes specifically sensitized to Cytomegalovirus (CMV) antigens. Developed for the treatment of recalcitrant CMV infections in immunocompromised individuals, such as those with primary immunodeficiency, the therapy involves the infusion of virus-specific T cells (VSTs). These cells are designed to recognize and eliminate CMV-infected host cells, thereby restoring cellular immunity against the virus in patients whose own immune systems are unable to control the infection. This specific preparation was utilized in a single-patient, open-label study at the University of Calgary for a patient presenting with CMV viremia and pneumonia.
