Overview

CMV852 is a small molecule drug in preclinical development by Scripps Research and Calibr-Skaggs. It is designed to regenerate cardiac tissue after myocardial infarction (heart attack) by activating a regenerative pathway through YES-associated protein 1 (YAP). This activation stimulates the growth of new heart cells (cardiomyocytes), aiming to restore functional cardiac tissue and improve heart function. The drug is administered via precise injection at the site of cardiac damage and has demonstrated efficacy in animal models, including mice and pigs, where it induced new functional heart tissue and significantly improved post-infarct heart function. IND-enabling studies are expected to begin in 2025[1][2][3][5].
