Overview

The CMVpp65-derived peptide vaccine (RCHD-CMV-1001) is an investigational biologic developed by the Renal Clinic Heidelberg and University Hospital Heidelberg. It consists of the HLA-A*0201-restricted nonamer peptide NLVPMVATV, derived from the cytomegalovirus (CMV) phosphoprotein 65 (pp65). The vaccine is formulated in a Montanide™ water-in-oil emulsion and administered with imiquimod (Aldara™) as an adjuvant. It is designed to induce CMV-specific CD8+ T-cell responses to prevent CMV reactivation in CMV-seronegative patients undergoing renal transplantation from seropositive donors. In Phase I clinical evaluation, the vaccine was well tolerated and demonstrated the ability to generate a cellular immune response in approximately 50% of patients.
