Overview

CMZ371 is a long-acting biologic dual agonist designed to target the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP1R) and the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide receptor (GIPR). Developed by Calibr, the drug discovery division of Scripps Research, CMZ371 is engineered for the treatment of metabolic disorders, including obesity, type 2 diabetes, and liver diseases such as metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). By simultaneously activating both GLP-1 and GIP receptors, the drug aims to achieve superior glycemic control and weight loss compared to mono-receptor agonists. The biologic is likely optimized for extended pharmacokinetics to allow for infrequent dosing, leveraging Calibr's expertise in protein engineering and half-life extension technologies.
