Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CN54gp140 + GLA-AF is an experimental HIV-1 vaccine candidate developed by Imperial College London. It consists of a recombinant trimeric envelope protein (gp140) derived from the HIV-1 clade C strain 97CN54, formulated with the adjuvant GLA-AF (glucopyranosyl lipid adjuvant in aqueous formulation). GLA-AF is a synthetic Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) agonist designed to enhance the immune response. The vaccine aims to elicit both humoral (antibody) and cellular immune responses against the HIV envelope to prevent infection in healthy individuals. It has been evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials, both as a standalone protein-adjuvant regimen and as part of heterologous prime-boost strategies involving DNA and MVA viral vectors.
