Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**CN54gp140-hsp70 conjugate vaccine** is an investigational topical mucosal HIV-1 vaccine developed for vaginal administration. It consists of the HIV-1 CN54 envelope glycoprotein gp140 covalently linked to 70-kDa heat shock protein 70, which is intended to enhance antigen presentation and local innate and cellular immune responses against HIV at the genital mucosa. In a completed Phase 1 study in healthy HIV-negative women, three intravaginal applications were evaluated for safety and immunogenicity; the published study reported no significant adverse reactions and observed ex vivo inhibition of HIV-1 replication with changes consistent with antiviral innate and T-cell responses.
