Overview

The CNG-Sun Yat-sen University-nasopharyngeal carcinoma protocol (CNG protocol) is a risk-stratified therapeutic strategy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) developed by the Cooperative Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Group at Sun Yat-sen University. This protocol utilizes a proprietary staging system (CNG stage) to guide the administration of Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) and a specific chemotherapy regimen. The chemotherapy component includes the intravenous administration of 5-fluorouracil and nedaplatin (or cisplatin), followed by oral adjuvant therapy with tegafur and calcium folinate. The treatment is tailored based on the patient's risk profile and early response to radiation, aiming to optimize tumor control while minimizing long-term toxicities associated with standard chemoradiotherapy guidelines.
