Overview
CNM-Au8 is an orally administered suspension of clean-surfaced, catalytically active gold nanocrystals developed as a disease-modifying therapy for neurodegenerative diseases. Its primary mechanism is to act as a catalyst for cellular energy metabolism and redox reactions, supporting neuronal survival and function by enhancing ATP production and reducing oxidative stress. Preclinical and clinical studies suggest that CNM-Au8 may improve nerve cell survival, function, myelin repair, and communication by boosting energy reserves in neurons and oligodendrocytes while clearing toxic metabolic byproducts. It is being investigated primarily for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), multiple sclerosis (MS), and Parkinson's disease[1][4][5][6][7][10].
