CNP-201 is a biodegradable nanoparticle-based immunotherapy developed for the treatment of peanut allergy. It consists of purified peanut protein extract (purified peanut extract, PPE) encapsulated within a negatively charged polymer matrix made from poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA). The nanoparticles are designed to be administered intravenously and are taken up by antigen-presenting cells in the immune system. Once internalized, they present the allergen in a way that reprograms immune responses—specifically aiming to inhibit the Th2 cell response associated with allergic reactions—thereby reducing or potentially eliminating severe allergic reactions to peanuts. This approach represents an immune-modifying strategy rather than traditional desensitization therapy and may reduce or eliminate the need for strict dietary avoidance of peanuts[1][2][4][5][6].
