Overview

CNR-401 is a botanical therapeutic candidate being developed as a treatment for neurodegenerative diseases, primarily targeting amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). It is formulated to leverage the synergistic effects of hemp-derived rare polyphenols, predominantly cannflavins A and B, along with other minor cannabinoids and terpenoids. The compound is designed to reduce neuroinflammation, alleviate symptoms, and provide neuroprotective benefits by inhibiting enzymes such as MAGL (Monoacylglycerol lipase) and FAAH (Fatty acid amide hydrolase), which are involved in inflammatory pathways within the nervous system. By targeting these enzymes, CNR-401 aims to protect neurons from inflammatory damage that contributes to disease progression. Developed using Canurta’s proprietary PolyKye Platform, CNR-401 is positioned as a next-generation botanical drug. As of mid-2025, CNR-401 is advancing towards Phase 2 clinical trials for ALS and is at the preclinical stage for Alzheimer’s disease and frontotemporal dementia.
