Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CNS Targeted PNP is a discovery-stage therapeutic program developed by Aera Therapeutics that utilizes a proprietary protein nanoparticle (PNP) platform to deliver protein-based therapeutics to the central nervous system (CNS). The PNP technology is designed to leverage endogenous human proteins that self-assemble into nanoparticles, which are engineered to cross the blood-brain barrier—a major obstacle in the treatment of neurological disorders. This platform aims to enable the delivery of large-molecule payloads, such as proteins or genetic medicines, to specific brain tissues with potentially lower immunogenicity and higher efficiency than traditional delivery methods. As of early 2024, the program remains in the discovery phase, with specific molecular targets and disease indications yet to be disclosed.
