Overview

CNTO 5825 is a human monoclonal antibody that targets interleukin-13 (IL-13). It acts by inhibiting the binding of human IL-13 to its receptors, IL-13Rα1 and IL-13Rα2, thereby modulating immune responses associated with allergic diseases. Developed primarily for the treatment of allergic asthma, it was investigated in phase I clinical trials. The drug was originally developed by Centocor Ortho Biotech, which later became Janssen Biotech. Its mechanism of action is immunomodulation through specific inhibition of IL-13 signaling pathways[2][4][7][8].
