Overview

CNTO 6785 is a fully human immunoglobulin G1 lambda monoclonal antibody that binds to human interleukin-17A (IL-17A) with high affinity and specificity. By preventing IL-17A from binding to its receptors on the cell surface, CNTO 6785 inhibits the activity of IL-17A and reduces the production of pro-inflammatory molecules. It was developed for immune-mediated inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Clinical trials showed that while it was generally well tolerated, it did not demonstrate significant clinical efficacy in these indications[1][2][3][7]. The drug was originally developed by Janssen (a Johnson & Johnson company), with licensing in certain Asian territories to Shandong Fontacea Pharmaceutical[2].
