CNTO 6785 + methotrexate

**CNTO 6785 + methotrexate** is a combination therapy consisting of CNTO 6785, a fully human monoclonal antibody targeting interleukin 17A (IL-17A), and methotrexate, a conventional synthetic disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (csDMARD). CNTO 6785 binds to and inhibits IL-17A, a cytokine associated with autoimmune and inflammatory responses. Methotrexate acts primarily as an antifolate, inhibiting enzymes involved in folate metabolism and DNA synthesis, leading to immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory effects. This combination was studied for treatment of active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in patients with inadequate response to methotrexate, but demonstrated no significant clinical efficacy compared to methotrexate alone[1][3][6][7]. The combination is also of research interest in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)[2][8].
