Co-DOTA-SP4 is an experimental diagnostic radiopharmaceutical designed for PET/MRI imaging to evaluate drug distribution in the brain. It consists of the SP4 ligand (likely a peptide) chelated with DOTA (1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1,4,7,10-tetraacetic acid) and labeled with the positron-emitting isotope Cobalt-55 (55Co). The agent is specifically utilized in the context of convection-enhanced delivery (CED), a technique that bypasses the blood-brain barrier to deliver therapeutics directly into brain tissue, such as for glioblastoma (GBM). By monitoring the Vd/Vi ratio (volume of distribution to volume of infusion) and concentration gradients, Co-DOTA-SP4 assists in optimizing catheter placement and infusion strategies.
