coacillium

Coacillium (LH-8) is an investigational botanical drug developed by Legacy Healthcare for the treatment of alopecia areata and other skin disorders. It is formulated as a topical or oral solution containing a liquid ethanolic extract (30% w/w) of Allium cepa L. (fresh bulb) and Citrus limon (L.) Burm. The active components include various flavonoids and polyphenols derived from these plant sources. Mechanistically, it acts as an inhibitor of E-selectin expression, intercellular adhesion molecule-1 expression, and interleukin-8 expression; it also stimulates the expression of Ki-67 antigen and proto-oncogene protein c-bcl-2. These actions suggest anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects relevant to autoimmune hair loss conditions such as alopecia areata[1][2][3][7]. Clinical trials have shown positive results in pediatric populations with moderate to severe alopecia areata[6].
