Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Protar is a topical combination of coal tar and salicylic acid used to treat chronic, scaly skin and scalp conditions such as psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, and severe dandruff. Coal tar acts as a keratoplastic agent, slowing down the rapid proliferation of skin cells and reducing scaling, redness, and inflammation. Salicylic acid serves as a keratolytic agent, softening and dissolving thick, scaly patches of skin to facilitate exfoliation and enhance skin texture. Together, these active ingredients promote smoother skin and support the skin's natural repair process.
