Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Coccidioides immitis spherule is a biologic diagnostic agent used as a skin test antigen to detect delayed-type hypersensitivity to Coccidioides immitis, the fungus responsible for coccidioidomycosis (Valley fever). It is indicated for use in adults aged 18–64 with a history of pulmonary coccidioidomycosis. The test involves intradermal administration; a positive result is defined by an induration greater than 5 mm at the injection site after 48 hours. This product does not treat or prevent infection but helps identify prior exposure or immune response to the pathogen[1][7][9].
