Overview

Coconut shell activated carbon (CSAC) is a porous material derived from coconut shells, primarily utilized for its adsorptive properties. It is employed in various applications such as the removal of bis(2-ethylhexyl) phosphate (P204) and 6:2 Chlorinated polyfluoroalkyl ether acid (F-53B) from water, the adsorption of gaseous aromatic hydrocarbons like benzene and dichloromethane, and as a support for catalysts in biodiesel production. Its efficacy stems from its porous structure, high surface area, and surface functional groups that facilitate interactions with target substances. CSAC has also been investigated as an aggregate in eco-friendly concrete.
