Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Codaewon Plus is a multi-component combination syrup developed by Daewon Pharmaceutical for the treatment of acute bronchitis and its associated symptoms, such as cough and phlegm. The formulation combines the antitussive, bronchodilatory, antihistaminic, and expectorant properties of the 'Codaewon Forte' formulation (comprising dihydrocodeine bitartrate, dl-methylephedrine hydrochloride, chlorpheniramine maleate, and guaifenesin) with the antimicrobial and immunomodulatory effects of *Pelargonium sidoides* extract. This synergistic approach aims to provide comprehensive symptom relief while potentially addressing the underlying viral or bacterial causes of respiratory distress. It was approved in South Korea in 2020 as the first product to combine a dihydrocodeine-based syrup with *Pelargonium sidoides* extract.
