Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CodaVax-H1N1 is a universal, live-attenuated influenza vaccine candidate developed by Codagenix. It is engineered using the company's proprietary software-driven codon deoptimization platform, which recodes the viral genome to reduce the efficiency of viral protein synthesis, resulting in a virus that is alive but significantly weakened (attenuated). This synthetic biology approach is designed to elicit a broad and durable immune response, potentially offering protection against multiple strains of influenza beyond the specific H1N1 component. The vaccine has been evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity, with studies exploring both intranasal spray and intramuscular injection as routes of administration. The development of CodaVax-H1N1 is supported by a strategic partnership with the Serum Institute of India for manufacturing and global reach.
