**Codeine + pseudoephedrine** is an oral combination drug comprised of codeine, an opioid antitussive, and pseudoephedrine, a sympathomimetic amine decongestant. Codeine acts centrally on the medullary cough center as a mu-opioid receptor agonist, suppressing the cough reflex. Pseudoephedrine exerts its decongestant effect by acting primarily as an agonist at alpha-1 and alpha-2 adrenergic receptors in the nasal mucosa, inducing vasoconstriction and reducing swelling and congestion.
