Overview

Pulmocod is a combination pharmaceutical product developed and marketed by Stadmed, primarily used for the symptomatic relief of dry (non-productive) cough. It contains two active ingredients: codeine phosphate and chlorpheniramine maleate. Codeine phosphate is an opioid analgesic that acts as a centrally acting antitussive by suppressing the cough reflex in the medulla oblongata. Chlorpheniramine maleate is a first-generation antihistamine that blocks H1 receptors, helping to reduce allergic symptoms and providing a mild sedative effect that can assist in nighttime cough management. As a marketed generic formulation in India, it is typically available as an oral syrup.
