Overview

Coffea arabica methanolic extract (CAME) is a botanical extract derived from the beans of the *Coffea arabica* plant using methanol as a solvent. It is characterized by a high concentration of chlorogenic acid, which is considered its primary bioactive constituent. In preclinical research, CAME has demonstrated hepatoprotective effects, particularly in models of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Its mechanism of action involves the modulation of autophagy-related signaling pathways; specifically, it has been shown to inhibit the mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR) and enhance the expression of Microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3 beta (LC3-B). By regulating these signals, CAME helps restore autophagic flux, which is typically suppressed during the progression of liver damage in NASH.
