Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cofif Plus Syrup is a traditional herbal combination cough syrup developed and marketed by AGP SPVI (AGP Limited) in Pakistan. It is formulated with three active botanical extracts: ivy leaf extract (*Hedera helix*), licorice extract (*Glycyrrhiza glabra*), and thyme extract (*Thymus vulgaris*). This triple-action herbal formulation is indicated for the symptomatic relief of cough, chest congestion, and throat irritation associated with acute bronchitis and upper respiratory tract infections. Ivy leaf extract contains triterpene saponins (such as alpha-hederin) that act as secretolytics, mucolytics, and indirect bronchodilators by preventing beta-2 adrenergic receptor internalization. Thyme extract contains flavonoids and volatile oils (such as thymol) that provide spasmolytic and antitussive effects. Licorice extract contains glycyrrhizin, which acts as a demulcent to soothe irritated mucous membranes and exhibits anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting HMGB1. Cofif Plus Syrup is administered orally and is approved for use in both adults and children.
