cofrogliptin + insulin

Cofrogliptin + insulin is a combination therapeutic regimen being evaluated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Cofrogliptin (HSK7653), developed by Haisco Pharmaceutical Group, is a novel, ultra-long-acting oral dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor characterized by a unique biweekly (once every two weeks) dosing schedule. It works by inhibiting the DPP-4 enzyme, which leads to increased levels of the incretin hormones glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). These hormones stimulate insulin secretion and inhibit glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner, thereby improving glycemic control. In this regimen, cofrogliptin is used as an add-on therapy to exogenous insulin for patients whose blood glucose levels are inadequately controlled by insulin alone. A multicenter, prospective real-world study known as COLOR-REAL, led by investigator Yanbing Li, is currently investigating the effectiveness and safety of biweekly cofrogliptin versus daily linagliptin when added to routine insulin therapy in Chinese adults.
