COG-201 is an investigational gene therapy candidate being developed by Cognigenics for the treatment of Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) associated with anxiety. The therapeutic utilizes an adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector to deliver short hairpin RNA (shRNA) via an intranasal route, facilitating non-invasive delivery to the central nervous system. COG-201 is designed to selectively knock down the expression of specific genetic targets identified through Cognigenics' G-NAi (Gene-Network Artificial Intelligence) platform, which focuses on modulating neural networks to improve cognitive function and alleviate comorbid emotional symptoms. By targeting specific serotonin receptor networks or related pathways in the brain, the therapy aims to provide a long-lasting modulation of neural circuits involved in memory and anxiety regulation. It is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
